Recreating Nicole Miller's FW20 Runway Makeup
Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone and while I still believe there’s a lot of work to be done when it comes to the structure of fashion week, I always have fun attending to catch up with friends, network and meet new people in the industry and of course seeing amazing clothing up close on the runway.
As you all probably know already since I started my role at Jumprope I have really shifted my focus over to beauty (especially on my YouTube channel) and I felt a similar shift this season at fashion week. I started to pay more attention to the nail, hair, and makeup looks that came down the runway because the styling in that sense can really tie a whole look together. I even got to go backstage for the first time with JINsoon at the KHAITE show (thanks BPCM for the hookup!) and I’ll share a link to the mini vlog I did for that NYFW so you can see all of the fun from backstage, including watching Bella Hadid get her makeup done.
I thought it might be fun to challenge some creators on Jumprope to make some tutorials recreating the looks from the runway at NYFW FW20. Alongside some other very talented creators, I decided to try my hand at recreating a bold makeup look and the show that I chose to focus on was Nicole Miller. I always love Nicole’s show because her clothes truly encapsulate the spirit of the NYC girl. This season though I was excited to read about her inspiration from across the pond.
According to Vogue, Nicole Miller was inspired by “rebellious royals” aka Meghan and Harry saying “ta-ta for now!” to their life in the spotlight. I loved how the clothes had little crowns embroidered on them and for the makeup it was all about the perfect color palette. Think of this eye look as Jenny Humphrey season three meets the gilded age. I had so much fun recreating it and am sharing exactly how I did it below.
What do you think of this recreation? Should I do more?
yours,
Austen
