Your Ultimate Guide to Working From Home
Hi everyone. I hope you’re all staying well and hanging in there with all that’s going on in the world right now.
It’s tough on all of us and I know that over the last few weeks you’ve probably made everything from small adjustments to major pivots in your life and I want you to know I’m right there with you.
If one of the adjustments that you recently had to make involves working from home, I’m here to help whether you’re trying to figure out where to sit in your house to be most productive (actually a really tough decision in some ways??), if you should be wearing makeup on your Zoom calls and if so what kind, and even tips for feeling productive in your home.
1. Find a designated workspace.
Pick a specific area in your home for work to create a boundary between your professional and personal life, allowing you to mentally switch gears when needed. This space could be as simple as a corner of a room or a dedicated home office, ensuring a productive work environment.
2. Change your clothes
Start your day by getting dressed as if you were going to the office, even if your commute only involves walking to another room. This simple act helps signal to your brain that it's time to focus and be productive, which can help you feel motivated.
3. Get some fresh air
Remember to take regular breaks throughout your day, stepping outside for a breath of fresh air and a change of scenery. Even a short stroll around the block can refresh your mind and prevent burnout, enhancing your overall well-being and productivity.
4. Plan your meals
Plan lunches in advance to save time and maintain a healthy eating routine. By prepping meals ahead of time, you'll be less tempted to opt for unhealthy fast food choices, ensuring you stay nourished and energized throughout the workday.
I worked from home for a year and a half before the pandemic and these tips definitely helped me get through the day and make sure that I stayed productive and on-task. I hope that they help you too.
