The 5 Winter Trends I Can't Stop Wearing
Hey everyone, I hope you’ve all had a lovely holiday and got to spend some quality time with friends and family. The first days following Christmas always feel like a weird in-between period to me because you’re waiting for the new year to begin but still want to soak up all of the good holiday vibes. And what better way to keep the good energy flowing than by upgrading your wardrobe. In this post, I’m going to talk you through five of my favorite trends from winter 2017 and hopefully give you some inspiration of easy ways to up your style game. As always you can shop this post if you scroll down to the bottom and if you have any questions about any of the pieces I’m wearing just leave me a note in the comments. Berets
In 2008, I went to Paris with my parents after I graduated middle school and made sure that I had purchased a beret for my trip so I’d fit in overseas. Now, the trend once reserved for France’s chicest crowd has become a style worn all over the world. I got this beret for just under $9 on Amazon so obviously I purchased it burgundy as well. I also got a dark grey one for Christmas, so don’t expect to see me without one of these on my head anytime soon.
Teddy Bear Coats
When something is equal parts chic and comfortable, I can’t help but get on board. Winters in New York can get super cold, so having a teddy bear coat is a great way to stay warm. I’ve been obsessed with this one from Boohoo that I ordered on ASOS (if you watch my huge ASOS Black Friday haul video you can hear more about it) and I’ve also been eyeing the ones from overnight success I.AM.GIA.
Patent leather
I got this mini skirt earlier this year and as soon as I wore it out, I couldn't help but notice that this trend was *Michelle Branch voice* everywhereeeee. Black patent leather is just one of those fabrics that instantly make any outfit look cooler. The best part about it? The fabric is super practical for winter weather. In rain or snow, water will roll right off the shiny texture, which makes it a no-brainer for skirts, boots, jackets and more.
Slogan Tees
Wow, I love a good slogan tee. These are great for layering if, like me, the second you step into a heated building you start wanting to peel off your sweater and scarf. I picked up this one that reads “j’adore” because I love how simple it is and I think the font is so fun and playful. There are tons of good slogan tees on the high street right now and they’re usually not too expensive, so if you’re looking to upgrade your winter wardrobe this is a super easy way to do it.
Red
I find that every time a new season appears I sink deeply into a color scheme. Well this winter I am feeling red: that cherry, bright, poppy red. It is so easy in winter to default to an all-black wardrobe (I’m wearing a black mock neck and black skinny jeans as I write this, so no one’s completely immune to it) but if you’re looking for a color to mix things up, red is a great option. As you probably saw in my last fashion post I’ve been obsessed with it. Whether you want to go all out and buy a statement coat, or if you’re just cool with the occasional bright red lip, it’s a great color to get noticed in and ensure that your winter style gets the attention it deserves.
