The Summer Outfits I’m Wearing on Repeat This Year

Ah, it’s summer once again. And as our calendars fill with fun gatherings from beach trips to barbecues you may start to wonder, “what the heck am I going to wear to all of these things?”

Well, that’s where I come in, because today I’m here to help you build your no-fail summer outfit idea library that you can return to as much as you’d like over the next few months so you can find style inspiration with ease.

In addition to sharing some outfit formulas that I repeat time and time again in the summer months, I’m also sharing some shopping recommendations of summer wardrobe staples that I think are worth the investment and ideas for how to accessorize your outfits too.

Summer dressing isn’t always easy—you’re constantly trying to dress down more formal pieces and avoid sweating through every piece of clothing you own.

This summer style guide is here to help.

The Summer Outfits I’m Wearing on Repeat This Year

Outfit ideas

A-Line Dress and High-Top Sneakers

I love an A-line dress in the summer months and if you’re doing a lot of walking, pairing this style with sneakers is a no-brainer.

Denim Mini Skirt and Blouse

A white denim mini skirt for the summer months is so underrated—plus you can totally dress it up. I’ve paired mine here with a black tie-front blouse and low heels.

Gingham Dress and Sandals

I could easily wear this outfit multiple days in a row during the summer months. The midi dress length is so flattering and a solid pair of flat sandals is a summer must for me.

Linen Mini Dress and Sunglasses

Few things make me feel like I’m giving off Hamptons vibes (without actually, you know, going all the way to the Hamptons) than a linen dress and a great pair of sunglasses.

White Tank Top and Linen Pants

Continuing on the linen theme, a pair of high-waisted linen pants are a great summer staple. Keep things simple by pairing with a plain white tee or tank and layer some necklaces for a polished look.

Little Black Dress and Flat Sandals

A little black dress doesn’t have to be boring. This one has a fun textured fabric and makes it perfect for happy hour drinks or casual dinners in my neighborhood.

Loose Maxi Dress and Layered Necklace

I can’t put on a long, flowy maxi dress without feeling like I should be in a Free People catalog. Finding this silhouette in your favorite color will be an easy outfit to reach for—just add a stack of necklaces and you’re all set.

Mermaid Dress and Headband

Need something a little more sleek? I love the look of a mermaid midi dress and pairing it with a headband. Did someone say Blair Waldorf?

Floral Midi Dress and Purse

The midi dress strikes again! This time with puff sleeves and a cute floral print. Throw in a structured purse and you’re ready for a summer event.

Polka Dot Dress and White Sunglasses

Patterns really shine during the summer months and polka dots are a timeless print to add to your summer wardrobe. Pair a printed dress with a pair of fun sunglasses for a summery vibe.

Satin Midi Skirt and Sneakers

This is the cool girl outfit combo of the season if you ask me. Pairing a satin midi skirt with white sneakers is the ultimate balance of casual and sleek style. Bonus points if one of them is in a neon color for the ultimate summer look.

Faux Leather Dress and Sunglasses

If you’re looking to have a high fashion moment, you can always reach for faux leather. Just make sure you’re wearing this look on a day with low humidity and don’t forget a pair of black sunglasses.

Tie Dye and Neutrals

Tie-dye may make you think of childhood crafts, but make no mistake—this pattern can be extremely stylish especially when balanced out with more neutral colors.

Babydoll Dress and Mini Bucket Bag

I actually wore this outfit during New York Fashion Week last year but I’d absolutely repeat it now. I love the babydoll cut of this dress and how I styled it with white accessories. It felt very whimsical and fun, which is just what summer fashion should be.

White Cargo Pants and Crop Top

When I found these white cargo pants at Zara, I had no idea how much I’d turn to them in the summer months. These are perfect for casual evening plans with friends or even for running errands on a sunny Sunday.

Little White Linen Dress and Sneakers

The linen hype continues! A white linen mini dress will be a go-to for you all summer long. You can always dress it up with heels but I also love the look of it with sneakers for backyard hangs, grad parties, and more.

Key summer accessories

To top off the look, it’s all about accessorizing. From footwear to handbags and even down to the jewels no look is complete without these things.

I’m sharing three ideas for what to look out for when shopping for shoes, purses and jewelry and I’m also sharing a few things you probably won’t catch me wearing this summer and why.

Top summer footwear recommendations:

Skip the: PVC material, it’s cute in theory but not when you’re all sweaty

Summer purse rotation:

Skip the: huge structured work purse—we’re in a summer Friday state of mind

The summer jewelry go-tos:

Skip the: stacks of rings. We love them, but think of the tanlines.
