My Favorite Hair Styling Products

Now that I've taken the plunge and shared my first beauty post with you all, I figured I'd keep it up and talk about hair! I'll do another post after this about hair care, but I wanted to start with hair styling. I know it may seem backwards to start with styling, but that's kind of how it started in my life too, so I can't help but think of this post first. Most of the time, my hair is in some variation of loose curls, so keep that in mind when you read about these.

A lot of people think that to style your hair, you need to pile on lots of different products. I always say that less is more, and I'd rather have a handful of reliable products than constantly be swapping things in and out. So that said, here are my six must-have products that I use when I style my hair.

1. Conair Curling Iron

I remember the first time I ever tried to use a curling iron. I had no idea how the clamp worked and often got weird dents at the bottom of my hair and could not figure out for the life of me how to make the curls stay curled. Enter a good curling iron and the right technique: I’ve had the Conair curler for about seven years now and I love it. It’s simple, easy to use and you can manage the heat settings. Plus, it has automatic shut-off so it won’t burn the place down.

2. TRESemmé Dry Shampoo

Ah, dry shampoo, a lazy girl’s dream come true. Although I don’t use dry shampoo all that often, of all of the ones I’ve tried the Tresemme one is my favorite. It’s really easy to use and it gets the grease out of your roots so that it’s socially acceptable to walk around even if you haven’t showered in a few days.

3. Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine Cream

My hair doesn’t usually do well with cream styling products. Usually, for the cream to really do its job, you have to use a lot of it which tends to weigh my hair down and doesn’t do me any favors. But this Bumble & Bumble product actually works and the beauty of it is you never need more than a quarter-sized dollop for it to really do its thing. Anyone who craves that piecey, beachy texture should have this on their shelf.

4. TRESemmé Heat Protectant Spray

One of the downsides to styling hair so much is heat damage. If you protect your skin from the sun, you should also protect your hair. A quick spritz of this should be all you need to give your hair a bit of extra protection. Your hair will thank you later.

5. Moroccanoil Shine Spray

I had heard a lot about Moroccanoil products from other people but didn’t really understand the hype until I tried it for myself. Spray the contents of this little magic bottle over a finished hair style to give your hair an extra bit of shine. Usually when someone has enviable hair, I just assume they’re using one of the Moroccanoil products.

6. Dove Extra Hold Hairspray

This is probably one of the first hair styling products I ever used. I know this because I used an entire can of it when I went on my first date and the smell immediately flashes me back to that. Awkward middle school romantic encounters aside, it really holds my hair without making it crunchy (unless you use a whole can of it…) and it gets the job done. I’ve honestly never used anything else.

So, there you have it! What are your favorite hair styling products?

yours,

Austen
