Five Classic Beauty Products I Never Use And What I Use Instead

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! I fell into a black hole of watching beauty bloggers on YouTube the other day (does that happen to anyone else or just me?) and one of the things that I realized was that one of the girls I was watching uses all of these products that I never use. I started to wonder if something was wrong with me, should I be lining my lips every day?! But really, I realized that I don't use these very standard beauty products that are sort of expected in a girl's makeup bag on an everyday basis because I use products that work the same magic, but that work for me. Read: they make things easier and faster.

If you use any of these, maybe you can recommend a product to ease me in, but for now here are five classic beauty products that I don't own and what I use instead.

I never use: Lip Liner

Instead I use: Liquid Lipstick

I definitely do not have a steady enough hand to be able to accurately apply lip liner. I know lip kits are a big thing right now, and I definitely think the look works on a lot of people. Luckily for me, my go-to lipstick by Stila goes on so smoothly and intensely that it doesn't require liner!

I never use: Foundation

Instead I use: a Skin Tint or BB cream

This may seem impossible, but hear me out: I've gone through so many phases of foundation from over-powdering to caking on liquid foundations and definitely prefer lighter coverage. For my everyday makeup, a light tinted formula or BB cream works perfectly for me.

I never use: Blush

Instead I use: a Contour Kit

Oh, I remember the first blush I bought. It was a CoverGirl three-colored compact from the Rite Aid in my town. I used to use the tiny brush to create perfect little circles on the apples of my cheeks. But the doll-like look really isn't for me. I've actually gotten more into contouring in the last few weeks. My best friend Christina recommended this Make Up For Ever duo to me and I really like it for defining my cheekbones in more earthy tones, rather than rosy blush.

I never use: Eyeliner Pencils

Instead I use: Liquid Liner

Kohl eyeliner is something that I tried many variations of in bulk from the drugstore. There are cool opportunities to create smokey effects à la Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl, but if you like a clean line, you know liquid liner is the way to go.

I never use: Brow Pencils

Instead I use: Brow Gel

I firmly believe that doing your brows is an art form in and of itself. I love watching brow tutorials, but truth be told, I don't have the patience to go through that routine each morning. Glossier's cult-worthy brush/gel product Boy Brow is my go-to brow product, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
