9 Fall Activities To Do In New York City

Each autumn as the leaves change color and girls walk around drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I can’t help but fall more and more for, well, fall. This is my favorite season for fashion, weather, and so much more. I know many of you feel the same way and are ready to feel the crisp air when you step out in the morning and to start breaking out the sweaters and Halloween decorations.

It also makes me think of Gossip Girl scenes with back-to-school style being filmed on the Met Steps or in Central Park and I suddenly feel an urge to dress myself exclusively in plaid skirts and break out the headband collection. But even though fall is all about layering, I often find that the simplest outfits are sometimes the ones that have the most impact.

This one consisted of a new blouse from Zara in a dreamy powder blue color, with my go-to straight leg jeans from Topshop and a pair of shoes from & Other Stories (similar here) that I love so much but that have left not one, not two, but five blisters on my feet after wearing them out and about in the neighborhood.

Anyway, since the days in NYC are so gorgeous in the autumn months, I wanted to round up the best activities that will make this fall in NYC the fall to end all falls. From fall festivals, to gorgeous parks, to spooky events, I’m sure you’ll find something to do to channel your autumn spirit.

1. Feast of San Gennaro

This 11-day festival in Little Italy celebrates the patron saint of Naples and is a great place for food, crafts, and fun. The Feast of San Gennaro runs along Mulberry street and also features attractions like live music and a ferris wheel. Be sure to bring cash for the vendors!

2. Ghosts of New York tour

If you feel like getting scared, as an alternative to the typical haunted house, take a ghost tour of New York City. You can take a tour by neighborhood or choose another macabre focus to give yourself a fright when you walk through the city streets.

3. Visit The Cloisters

The Cloisters and Fort Tyron Park are always on my list of fall recommendations in New York. Wander around the medeival-focused extension of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and enjoy a stroll through the incredible fall foliage that you’ll find in the park. The ride uptown is worth it.

4. The New York Coffee Festival

For lovers of caffeine, you’re going to obsess over this NYC fall fest. The New York Coffee Festival is not one to miss since your admission includes unlimited coffee from more than 100 vendors, workshops and demonstrations from world-class baristas, and live music, art exhibitions, and more.

5. Attend an Oktoberfest Event

If you love a good beer, don’t miss out on one of beer’s most exciting times, Oktoberfest. There are tons of events to celebrate this occasion in NYC including Munich on the East River.

6. Pie Night at Dominique Ansel

You know Dominique Ansel for their famous cronuts, but have you ever tried their pies? You’ll have an hour to sample unlimited slices at Dominique Ansel’s Pie Night. Get in the fall spirit by indulging in one of the season’s tastiest desserts.

7. Cider Week

Calling all cider lovers: starting November 2, some of the best bars in the city will be celebrating everyone’s favorite fall boozy beverage, cider. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to taste some delicious drinks during Cider Week.

8. Museum of Pizza

Who doesn’t love pizza? This October the Museum of Pizza is coming to New York City! Be sure to check it out and don’t forget that admission includes a slice of some of NY’s finest ‘za.

9. Giant Pumpkin Weekend at the Bronx Botanical Garden

If you want to experience some Halloween vibes, be sure to stop by the Bronx Botanical Garden and see their Spooky Pumpkin Garden. Try to visit during Giant Pumpkin Weekend where you can meet the growers of some of the largest pumpkins.
